Packaging of the Year is a prestigious and certified competition that annually celebrates the best innovations, creativity, and sustainability in the packaging industry, recognizing those who create top-notch packaging with respect for the environment and society.
A customer that grows and distributes vegetables to grocery chains was looking for a more sustainable solution to pack peppers. Until now, most producers have sold peppers packed in pairs in a plastic bag with a thermal label. Most smaller packages of fresh fruit and vegetables are packed in plastic bags, which will no longer comply with packaging legislation in the future.
MATERIAL
The material used for the labels is a paper on which an adhesive is applied and which is certified for contact with food. Linerless labels fully replace the function of additional packaging, by holding the peppers together while providing sufficient space for the customer’s design and all the required information.
The label is fully functional, easy to handle, and streamlines the sorting process.
Being able to sell Czech peppers with more environmentally friendly, modern, and attractive paper packaging is a great added value for grocery chains.
